We’re committed to offering almost all our activities to kids and parents (often together) and helping introduce kids (and mums and dads) to a world of sport, fitness and relaxation.
Families that play together, stay together
It’s a cliché, but there’s actually some scientific evidence behind this saying. Introducing exercise as a natural part of life as early as possible is known to help kids grow up habituated to exercise. Sedentary parents tend to have sedentary kids who see exercise as a chore and a bore, whilst active parents have active children.
Inter-family competition is a great way to help kids and parents bond. Gamifying exercise can establish a fun competitive element which gets kids used to setting goals and working hard to meet them. It’s also important to help kids understand that families are a team and have to work together to meet goals and overcome obstacles.

At St. George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club we are committed to welcoming families of all types. We’ve put together a range of activities that can be done as a family group and for mums and dads and kids separately. Let’s take a look around and see what’s on offer.
Tennis coaching
As we’re first and foremost a tennis club we have some of the UK’s best tennis coaches for both kids and adults. We take a nurturing approach to kids’ tennis coaching, working with the youngsters at their own pace whilst leading them on to improve their game at a pace that’s comfortable for them.
Our coaching incorporates the Lawn Tennis Association Youth Programme, which is a starter course for kids who’ve never played before. It incorporates games and training drills and is fun and demanding at the same time. Adult and junior members can also benefit from our dedicated tennis performance coaching sessions.
We also have Mini Tennis – a version of the adult game that features smaller courts and lower bouncing balls to match kid’s abilities.
Squash coaching
If racquet sports are your thing, you’ll be amazed at the squash facilities. We have a team of England Squash and Racquetball-qualified coaches offering a full coaching and development programme starting at any level of experience from beginners to seasoned players.
The fact that our Elite Academy has produced several world Top 50 squash players is evidence of our second-to-none kids’ squash coaching programme.
Swimming lessons for kids
The swimming pool is one of our hidden treasures. We’re committed to help both kids and adults learn to swim safely and develop a love of swimming that will last a lifetime. Our Swim England-qualified swimming instructors help youngsters in after-school and weekend sessions. We have individual one-to-one coaching and classes, plus parent, baby and aqua-tot sessions for getting kids used to the water in a safe and nurturing environment. Holiday camps for kids
We know it’s not always easy to find things to do in the school holidays, so we’re pleased to run holiday camps for kids which include everything the club has to offer, from tennis, squash to swimming and crafts. The kids can make friends while learning skills that will last a lifetime.
Playtime
It’s not all about gym and sports at St. George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club. Kids want to run around and let off steam and our kids’ play area on the lakeside terrace is just the place to do it.
With slides, climbing walls, rope climbs, and lots of things to discover, the play area is a safe environment in which kids can make friends and use up any spare energy they may have. All whilst mums and dads can keep an eye on them from the comfort of the terrace!
Outdoor exercise
As well as having one of the finest gyms in Surrey, over the last year we’ve all realised the benefits and opportunities of exercising outdoors. We’ve taken this one step further by adding a complete new outdoor gym and bespoke outdoor fitness classes to the club. It’s fast becoming recognised as one of the UK’s finest private outdoor gyms.
Featuring weights, exercise bikes, monkey bars and more, the outdoor gym is a brilliant way to get fit whilst breathing the fresh open air and sunshine. Many more exciting developments are coming soon – watch this space.
Family food and drink
Family time isn’t all about exercise and getting fit. Relaxation and downtime are vital too. Our philosophy is that food should be nutritious and delicious.
We have a special kids’ menu just for the young ones, with plenty of fresh, filling favourites including sandwiches and pasta dishes plus fresh salads daily.
We also have plenty of locally-sourced dishes including burgers and sausages and you can accompany the mains with fresh veggies or (for a treat) chips and beans. Follow up with a selection of ice creams and sorbets. It’s enough to keep the hungriest kids happy.
For the parents, we have a wide range of choices, from fresh coffees and snacks all day, to breakfasts and brunches, dinners and lunches. All the way up to our fine dining experience including Sunday carvery in the Lake Room restaurant.
