After months of muddy walks and time cooped up together, family exercise might be the last thing on your mind.
Yet with the easing of restrictions for outdoor activity and longer, lighter evenings on the way, now is the perfect time to get the family active, healthier and shaking off the lockdown inertia.
Bring back the fun
Bored of the local park? Tired of the same routine? Much needed fun and variety will be key to inspiring you and the family to get active and enjoying exercise again.
There are a whole range of outdoor activities to choose from at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club when outdoor sports facilities are scheduled to reopen on 29 March 2021.
Enjoy a game of tennis on world-class courts. Join a fitness class in the outdoor gym. Or, if you need a little time to yourself, you can even book a 1-2-1 session with a personal trainer.
Keep your kids healthy and happy
If you keep telling your children that fresh air and exercise are good for the health, there’s plenty of research to back you up.
Playing outdoors can boost the immune system and give increased levels of Vitamin D.
According to research in the British Journal of Sports Medicine, outdoor activity can be good for children’s brains as well as their physical health. Scientists found that outdoor exercise is beneficial to brain structure, brain function and cognition in children and youth.
The Club has many ways to help give your kids the recommended 1 hour of activity or more each day.
We offer dedicated junior programmes in our outdoor gym including group exercise sessions and junior spin classes. Children can join classes with an adult from 14 years old, if they’re not using resistance equipment, and take part in full gym sessions with you when they’re 16 years old.
Beyond the state-of-the-art outdoor gym, we also offer junior tennis clubs, mini-tennis, coaching programmes and holiday camps for children of all ages. You never know, your child might go on to play at the highest level like some of the juniors at the Club.
Make the active lifestyle a family goal
As one of Surrey’s leading sports and leisure facilities, the Club is the perfect place to make sport, fun and fitness part of your daily life. In fact, many of our members call the Club their second home.
Make use of the top-class indoor facilities including the modern gym, studio classes, international squash courts and swimming pool as restrictions ease further.
The Club is also a great place to relax and socialise. Enjoy time to yourself in our dedicated on-site spa, grab a healthy bite in one of our restaurants or enjoy a summer family BBQ on the lakeside terrace.
As the world opens up, there has never been a better time to set healthy lifelong habits for you and your kids.
