There are many reasons why large numbers of the UK population love to swim.
Some people think learning to swim is an essential skill that can literally save your life. Other people enjoy the sense of calm and wellbeing that having a dip brings.
So, whether you’re a regular recreational swimmer, looking to improve your fitness or simply want to relax and unwind, here’s why the swimming facilities at St George’s Hill Lawn Tennis Club are the perfect place for you.

Feel fit and healthy, and younger too!
Swimming has many proven health benefits. It’s one of the few exercises where you can elevate your heart rate and build muscle strength without putting the stress of impact through your body.
Regular swimming can even delay the effects of aging. Exercising in the pool can reduce blood pressure and improve oxygen and blood flow to the brain, and so help your cardiovascular health.
Swimming also helps with balance, flexibility and joint inflammation. It’s no surprise that Swim England has found a rising number of older adults and people with disabilities or long-term health conditions have become active swimmers since 2017.

Learn and improve with qualified instructors
Our swimming instructors all hold qualifications from Swim England and offer individual classes, group lessons and dedicated coaching sessions for adults and children.
“We help to build confidence to take those first strokes in the pool and teach children from beginner level up to level 7,” says Maria Kimber Crane, Swim Coach and Co-ordinator at the Club.
“The Swim Team support all members and their families at the Club no matter their competence in the water. After an initial assessment in the pool, we tailor swim programmes to suit you individually or as part of a class.”
Our Swim Fit sessions offer tailored routines for adults including different strokes, speeds and lengths to encourage a more varied and challenging workout than traditional lane-swimming.
There are also dedicated adult-only lane swimming times throughout the day and evening. It’s the perfect time to put in some lengths, improve your swim technique and get fit around your working day.

Get moving with an AquaFit session
AquaFit water aerobics classes are the ideal way to exercise without impact and are open to everyone, even non-swimmers.
Enjoy a full-body workout in the shallow water without working up a sweat. Build up muscle strength, increase flexibility and have a little fun too.
AquaFit places much less stress on the body compared to working out on a hard surface. It’s a great activity if you’re recovering from an injury or suffer from joint conditions such as sclerosis or arthritis.
Best of all, you’ll follow a routine set by the instructor and a soundtrack of uplifting music. Your instructors will keep you moving, smiling and getting fit without you noticing at all. The buzz of AquaFit makes it one of the most popular swim classes in Weybridge.

Have fun with the whole family
Anyone at any age can learn to swim and enjoy time in the water. Our swimming facilities are used by all ages, from kids to grandparents.
There are open swim sessions for everyone to enjoy the pool, whether it’s time to swim or play about. We also offer dedicated Splash Time for kids, where the younger ones can have a little more freedom to enjoy the water.
You can keep the kids active during school holidays too. Our holiday camps offer a varied programme of activities all designed to keep children active, improve their swimming and have fun in the pool.
